I've spend  over 20 years traveling through the state of Wisconsin heading north in the warmer months to spend time in the Vilas and Oneida county area. In many ways it's a second home to my family and I. The area in and around the Northwoods took on a different meaning after the subprime mortgage crisis of 2008-09. Homes that I had seen alive with people and activity went abandoned, lost to investors and banks.

 

During the fall of 2010 I started a series of Nocturnes. I felt that dusk and darkness was the perfect metaphor for the uncertainty and loss so many must be feeling.
